I fell in love with computer programming when I was 12 years old at a computer summer camp. Learning BASIC felt like hearing my brain's native tongue for the first time. It felt like finding home.

My Engineering Philosophy

My first computer science teacher taught me three lessons that have inspired the engineer I am today:

  1. There is an infinite amount of knowledge that exists. The knowledge I have gained represents but a small speck in the vast ocean of all of the wisdom and knowledge that has ever been. This unknown known is nothing to fear, it is the oxygen of curiosity.
  2. There are 1,000 ways to skin a cat. There is never just one solution to a problem. The goal is to find the one that works best for the situation at hand.
  3. Computer science is the skill of problem solving. It is not a skill of language acquisition, or of collecting technical trivia. It is the simple, and complex, art of looking at a problem and seeing a solution. New languages and frameworks are just a matter of syntax. The heart of the work is problem solving.

For 20 years, I built and maintained a healthcare platform—from architecture and code to compliance and integrations. I have also built applications for education, e-commerce, and patient engagement. I work across PHP, .NET, Python, TypeScript, React, and Flutter, learning what the project needs.

I architect systems that scale, and I own them end-to-end. When you put me on a project, it gets delivered, documented, and maintained.

Over the years, I've worn more hats than I can count. Here are a few stand-out projects I'm particularly proud to have accomplished.

EHR Platform Rebuild

Rebuilt a legacy .NET application into a modern SaaS EHR platform.

  • Designed the system architecture from the ground up.
  • Built features that expanded the product into a full-fledged EHR.
  • Created the foundation that has served the company for 20 years.

FHIR API & OAuth 2.0 Microservice

Built a FHIR-based microservice for electronic prior authorization with OAuth 2.0/OIDC authentication.

  • Designed and built the entire microservice from scratch.
  • Integrated multiple billing systems.
  • Served as the FHIR expert on the team.

NIST Certification

Led multiple NIST health IT certification cycles.

  • Wrote software changes to meet compliance requirements.
  • Prepared test documentation and coordinated live testing.
  • Maintained product compliance through changing regulations for years.

Stock Portfolio Tracker

Stock Portfolio Tracker

Built a daily-use stock portfolio tracker in TypeScript and Next.js, pulling live data from multiple financial APIs. It gives me a complete, instant snapshot of my portfolio, tracks profits and losses, and I built it because nothing else on the market worked the way I wanted.

AI-Lab-API

AI-Lab Based Diagnostic API

Built a clinical decision support API that uses machine learning to analyze lab results and return a differential diagnosis. The project applies my biochemistry background to ML validation and is designed with healthcare compliance in mind.

Amazon seller Software

Amazon Seller Software

Built a complex integration with the Amazon Selling Partner API, handling OAuth, AWS IAM, and real-time data synchronization for inventory and orders. The project also included barcode scanning, label printing, and complex accounting calculations while integrating multiple systems into a cohesive, functional tool.

I'm always creating and building, even when not at work. Here are a few side-projects that make me proud:

  • Built an award-winning photography studio business that I ran sucessfully for 5 years. 📸
  • Started a youtube channel to share my infertility and recurrent miscarriage journey. 📽️
  • Built my own she-shed office. 🏠 (okay, my husband did the roof.)
  • Run a Raspberry Pi server at home. Now streaming Gilmore Girls every night. 🖥️
  • Sew and upcycle thrifted clothes. If I cannot find what I want in a store, I create it myself. 🧵
  • Cheer mom, always traveling to support my cheerleader. 📣
  • Learning Dutch and probably planning my next trip to the Netherlands, natuurlijk. 🇳🇱
